Frequently asked questions

How to turn photos into emoji art, paint emoji pixel art by hand, build a Discord or Instagram emoji bio, and share your creations — free, private and entirely in your browser.

What is Emoji Art?

Emoji Art is a free, browser-based studio for making emoji mosaics — pictures built out of emojis. You can turn any image into a grid of emojis, paint emoji pixel art by hand tile by tile, or browse every Unicode emoji, then copy the result as text or download it as a PNG.

How do I turn a photo into emoji art?

Open the image converter, then drop, paste (Ctrl+V) or browse a picture. Pick an emoji palette and a size — or a Discord or Instagram preset — tweak dithering and contrast if you like, and click Generate. Your photo is rebuilt as an emoji mosaic you can copy as text or save as a PNG. The image is processed on your device and never uploaded.

Is Emoji Art free, and do I need an account?

Yes, it is completely free, with no watermark, and you don't need an account to create or copy emoji art. You only need a free account if you want to publish your creations to the community gallery, like posts or comment.

How do I make an emoji art Discord or Instagram bio?

In the image converter, choose the Discord bio or Instagram bio preset. It automatically fits your mosaic under each platform's bio character limit, so you can copy it and paste it straight into your profile. Discord counts emojis as multiple characters, so the preset sizes the art to fit — no trial and error.

Is there an emoji pixel art maker?

Yes — the emoji art editor is a pixel-art canvas where you place emojis one tile at a time on a grid up to 50×50. It has brush, eraser, fill, line and eyedropper tools, undo/redo, keyboard shortcuts, a custom palette you build by searching any emoji or picking by color, and an adjustable background. Export your art as text or PNG.

Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Image-to-emoji conversion happens 100% on your device and your pictures never leave your browser. The only thing our server stores is an emoji artwork you explicitly choose to publish to the community gallery — the finished emoji mosaic (plain emoji characters), never your source image.

Can I edit emoji art I already have?

Yes. In the gallery or the editor, use "Paste emoji art" to paste an existing emoji mosaic (from Discord, Instagram or anywhere). A live preview lets you adjust the width until it lines up, then you can keep editing it in the editor or publish it.

Where can I paste emoji mosaics?

Anywhere that accepts text and Unicode emoji — Discord, Instagram, Slack, WhatsApp, X/Twitter, Reddit, comments, chats and more. You can also download any creation as a PNG image to use as a picture.

How do I find the right emoji?

The emoji library lists every Unicode emoji by category and lets you search by name or by color. Each emoji opens a detail card with its meaning, code points, Unicode version and year, average color, and how it renders across Microsoft, Google, Twitter and OpenMoji — one click to copy.

Does Emoji Art work on mobile?

Yes, everything runs in the browser on phones and tablets — including converting a photo, painting on the pixel-art canvas (with pinch to zoom) and browsing the gallery. No app to install.

How do I share my emoji art with the community?

Create a free account and verify your email, then hit Publish from the image converter or the editor. Your artwork appears in the community gallery where others can view, like and comment on it. You can delete your posts at any time.
