Frowning Face emoji

☹️ · Smileys & Emotion › Concerned faces · Emoji 0.7 (2014)

What does ☹️ mean?

☹️ is a simple face with a downturned mouth, a full frown. Like ☺️, it started out as a black-and-white text symbol.

It's plain sadness or disappointment: things didn't go well, you miss someone, you got bad news. It's a bit stronger than the slight 🙁 and less teary than 😢.
