Person Facepalming emoji

🤦 · People & Body › Gestures · Emoji 3.0 (2016)

What does 🤦 mean?

🤦 shows a person with their palm pressed flat against their face, the universal gesture for 'seriously?'. There are man and woman versions too (🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♀️), each in five skin tones.

It's exasperation, aimed at someone else's nonsense or at your own. Locking your keys in the car, hitting reply-all by accident, a friend who thinks Australia is in Europe: all facepalm material. It's frustrated rather than angry, and usually a little funny.

How people use 🤦

• locked myself out. again. 🤦
• he replied all to the whole company 🤦‍♂️

• 😅 Grinning Face with Sweat
