Grinning Face with Sweat emoji

😅 · Smileys & Emotion › Smiling faces · Emoji 0.6 (2010)

What does 😅 mean?

😅 is a big grin with a single drop of sweat on its forehead.

It's nervous relief or awkwardness: you just got away with something, you're laughing at your own mess, or you're owning up to a small fail with a smile. It softens bad news and self-deprecating jokes, which is why it turns up so often in 'sorry, just saw this' messages.
