Face with Tears of Joy emoji

😂 · Smileys & Emotion › Smiling faces · Emoji 0.6 (2010)

What does 😂 mean?

😂 is a yellow face laughing so hard it's crying, with big tears shooting out of both eyes. For years it was the most used emoji in the world, and Oxford Dictionaries even named it Word of the Year in 2015.

It means something is genuinely funny: a meme, a story, a friend's terrible decision. A lot of younger people find it a bit dated now and send 💀 or 😭 to say the same thing, but for plenty of others it's still the default laugh. Stack three of them and you're saying you lost it completely.
